DHAKKA: The number of murder cases registered against former prime minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wajid has increased to 100 since she resigned and fled to India on August 5th this year.
According to media reports, all these murder cases were registered against the former Prime Minister on the complaints of relatives of those people who lost their lives during clashes with police snd Awami League supporters.
These clashes erupted during the students’ protest against quota system in government jobs that started on July 16 and continued till the Prime Minister resigned and fled the country on August 5. Reports said that over 300 people were killed during the clashes.
The disgraced Bangladeshi Prime Minister is still in India as her request for asylum in Europe has not yet been accepted.
On the other hand, a new government has been formed in Dhaka under the leadership of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, which has announced to hold fresh elections in the country within three months.
Besides the murder cases, numerous other cases have been registered by the police against the former Prime Minister and her ex-cabinet members as well as top leaders of her party. A number of her close aides and party leaders were killed by the protesting mobs.
