11-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead After Ringing Doorbell in Houston

HOUSTON: An 11-year-old boy was fatally shot in Houston after ringing a doorbell as part of a prank, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred around 11p.m. on Mimbrau Street when Julian Guzman and his cousin were reportedly ringing doorbells in the neighborhood and running away.

The suspected shooter, 42-year-old Gonzalo Leon Jr., allegedly fired two shots from his home, one of which struck Julian in the back. The boy was critically injured and later died while being transported to the hospital.

Leon, a former U.S. Army soldier who served in Afghanistan and was a member of the Texas National Guard, has been taken into custody. Police are continuing their investigation, and charges are expected to be filed.

The incident has sparked concern and outrage in the community over the use of lethal force in response to a child’s prank.
