120,000 students of private varsities to get scholarships: Maryam

Chief Minister says each year 30,000 students will get the scholarships.

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif here said that over 120,000 students of private universities will be given scholarships under the Chief Minister’s Honar Scholarship Program.

She stated this while launching Phase-II of the program at FAST University in Islamabad on Monday where she handed cheques to the students. Under this initiative of the Punjab government, scholarships will be granted to 30,000 students each year.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said over 120,000 students will be given scholarships over the next four years.

She also announced the establishment of an Education City in Lahore, where top universities from around the world will be invited to set up their campuses.

Addressing the recipient students, the chief minister said that the students should not thank the government for the scholarships but in return they should never become part of chaos.

She said that no mother wants her children get involved in violence and vandalism at the behest of any political party or group. She said anyone inciting students and youth towards violence and using foul language could never be their benefactor.
