ISLAMABAD: 154 members of parliament have been suspended for not submitting details of assets to the Election Commission. The suspended members of parliament will not be able to participate in legislation until their membership is restored. Federal Ministers Fawad Chaudhry, Ali Zaidi, Fehmida Mirza also Included.
According to the Election Commission, 48 members of the National Assembly, 52 members of the Punjab Assembly, 19 members of the Sindh Assembly, 26 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, 6 members of the Balochistan Assembly and 3 members of the Senate have been suspended.
Dr. Amir Liaqat, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Yar Mohammad Rind, Owais Leghari, Ali Nawaz Awan, Sindh Provincial Minister Nasir Shah, PML-N leader Sheikh Rohail Asghar and others are among those who did not submit their statements.
However, the Election Commission has also informed the Speaker of the National and Provincial Assemblies and the Chairman Senate about the decision.
