RAWALPINDI: As many as 16 personnel of security forces were martyred in an attack on a security check post in South Waziristan area of Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations, eight terrorists were also killed in the exchange of firing. The ISPR said that the incident occured at night between December 20 and 21.
The statement of the ISPR said that the terrorists tried to attack a check post in South Waziristan and security forces fought and killed eight of them. While defending the post, 16 Jawans sacrificed their lives.
A clearance operation was carried out in the area to ensure that no terrorists or their facilitator remained in the area, it added.
