KARAK: Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district killed 17 militants belonging to the outlawed TTP Mullah Nazir group during a late-night operation.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Shehbaz Elahi, the action was carried out in Darsha Khel area after intelligence confirmed the presence of militants. During the fierce exchange of fire, 17 terrorists were neutralized, while three security personnel sustained minor injuries.
Officials said around 22 militants were believed to be in the area, and the search operation is continuing. Authorities warned of the possibility of further casualties as the crackdown intensifies.
A curfew has been imposed in Darsha Khel and nearby villages to maintain security and ensure the success of the operation.
DPO Shehbaz Elahi urged residents to remain indoors until 2:00 PM today and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies. He reiterated that “enemies of peace will not find a place to hide.”
The operation is part of ongoing nationwide counterterrorism measures, as security forces intensify actions against militant networks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in recent weeks.
