Tribunals appointed to hear election-related petitions

ECP to name judges for election tribunals in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa soon.

ISLAMABAD: Election tribunals have been formed in Balochistan and Sindh provinces for hearing complaints and petitions regarding the Feb 8th elections.

The Election Commission of Pakistan notified the appointment of Justices Muhammad Karim Khan Agha and Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry of the Sindh High Court as election tribunals for Karachi division.

In Sukkur division, Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro will hear election petitions while in Shaheed Benazirabad the tribunal will be headed by Justice Amjad Ali Sahito while Hyderabad tribunal will consist of Justice Muhammad Saleem Jessar.

In Balochistan, the tribunals comprises Justice Abdullah Baloch, Justice Rozi Khan Barrech and Justice Muhammad Aamir Nawaz Rana. The commission made these appointments on the recommendations of Chief Justices of the Balochistan and Sindh High Courts. The tribunals will hear petitions pertaining to national and provincial assembly constituencies in the respective provinces.
