BAKU: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif here today said talks with Azerbaijan would be finalized within a month for a $2 billion investment agreement between the two countries to be signed in April.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said at a press conference said that he was grateful to President Ilham Aliyev for the invitation to visit Azerbaijan, adding work was also underway to beautify Islamabad on the lines of Baku.
He said that the people of both the countries would benefit from the joint projects of mutual interest. Agreements were agreed to be finalized within a month, while agreements for investment worth $2 billion will be signed in Islamabad in April.
“We support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, President Aliyev said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was welcome in Azerbaijan, promoting the partnership between the two countries. There are many opportunities to increase cooperation in the economic and trade sectors of the two countries.
Earlier, a ceremony to ink memorandums of understanding and agreements between Pakistan and Azerbaijan was held in which Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and ministers of both countries participated.
The top officials of the two countries signed an agreement amending the framework agreement for the purchase and sale of LNG in Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between State Oil Company Azerbaijan and Pakistan Refinery Limited, while an agreement was also signed for the purchase and sale of petroleum products in PSO, SOCA Arteridang.
Another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cultural cooperation between the Azerbaijani city of Nizhchivan and the Pakistani city of Lahore was also signed.
