Pakistan, China to expedite work on ML-1, KKH realignment

BEJEING: Pakistan and China have decided to expedite work on the ML-I Karakorum Highway realignment and Sukkur- Hyderabad motorway. 

According to a press statement, the commitment was made at a meeting between Minister for Planning, Development Ahsan Iqbal and Vice Chairman of National Development and Reform Commission of China Zhao Chenxin.

The two sides also held talks on on expanding cooperation to new areas such as technology, innovation, education, connectivity and renewable energy.

The participants also stressed the need for completion of the ongoing projects under CPEC to further improve connectivity.

One of the important projects under CPEC is the Gwadar international airport which is going to be made operational soon.

About 20 officials from Pakistan have completed their training in China recently who would be handling the operation of the new airport established through Chinese assistance.

According to the ISPR, a clearance operation was carried out in the area to trace any terror elements.

It said the security forces would continue its operations against terrorists operating grom across the border in Afghanistan.
