TLP leader arrested for threatening CJP

Ministers say govt will take stern action against elements trying to take law into their hands.

LAHORE: The vice president of a religious outfit has been arrested on the charge of hurling life threat on chief justice of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

According to the police, TLP deputy chief Zahirul Hassan Shah was hiding in Okara city from where he was rounded up in a case registered against him and 1500 workers of the party for threatening to kill the chief justice of Pakistan during a protest rally outside the press club in Lahore a few days ago.

The case against the religious group’s leader and activist was registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act and different sections of the Pakistan penal Code. 

Meanwhile, addressing a presser bin Islamabad, federal minister Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Asif said that stern action would be taken against those hurling life threat on the chief justice of Pakistan, or anybody else. They said that an effort was being made to create bloodshed in the country which would not be allowed.

The ministers said that the government would take stern action against elements trying to take the law into their hands and disregarding the law of the land.
