Center delaying ToRs to send delegation to Afghanistan, says KP govt

PESHAWAR: Adviser to the KP government on information Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif has said that the federal government should quickly approve the terms of reference (TORs) for sending a delegation by the province for talks with Afghanistan’s interim government.

Muhammad Ali Saif said that the federal government should avoid further delay in the approval of the ToRs. The KP chief minister had been saying that he was planning to send a delegation to Kabul for holding talks with the Taliban regime.

However, the federal government was of the view that the province had no mandate to directly engage for talks with any foreign country.

The chief minister of Khyber Pakthunkhwa was of the view that his province could persuade the Taliban regime to act against terror outfits operating from Afghanistan for their activities in Pakistan.

The KP government spokesman said that they were waiting for the approval of the ToRs by the federal government but the latter was delaying its approval.
