KARACHI: The 35th National Games came to a spectacular close on Saturday with Pakistan Army emerging as the overall champions, securing the coveted trophy with outstanding performances across multiple sports.
The closing ceremony took place at the National Stadium in Karachi in which Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir was chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.
WAPDA and Pakistan Navy finished in second and third places, respectively, while the provincial rankings saw Punjab take the top spot, followed by Sindh in second.
The final day of the games saw some thrilling moments, including a high-stakes football match where Pakistan Air Force defeated Pakistan Army to win the title. Meanwhile, in boxing, Pakistan Army displayed its dominance, clinching 12 gold medals in both men’s and women’s events to secure the General Trophy.
With this edition of the National Games, athletes from across the country have proven their strength, skill and dedication, making it a memorable event in Pakistan’s sporting history.
