KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has stated that no conspiracy against religious seminaries (madaris) will be allowed to succeed.

He said madaris are being deliberately targeted through sustained negative propaganda and misrepresentation.

Addressing a public gathering in Lyari, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the philosophy of non-violence was introduced by Shaikh-ul-Hind, emphasizing that religious institutions had consistently promoted peace, tolerance, and a unified education system.

He added that religious seminaries had always supported the idea of a single curriculum and balanced education, rejecting claims that they restrict the intellectual growth and capabilities of young students.

The JUI-F leader warned that the real threat to the country originates from within, including certain elements of the government, bureaucracy, and industrial elite, whom he accused of undermining Pakistan’s ideological foundations.

“I want to see Pakistan strong, stable, and ideologically secure,” he remarked, stressing the need to protect national values.

He further said that misleading perceptions about religious seminaries had been deliberately planted in the minds of the public, forcing religious scholars to actively engage with society to counter misconceptions and restore trust.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said religious institutions play a vital and constructive role in society and should not be undermined under the pretext of reform, security concerns, or political agendas, calling for respect and fairness in discourse surrounding madaris.
