ISLAMABAD: Terrorist incidents in Pakistan increased by 45% in 2024, while those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks were 1081.
According to a report released by the Institute of Economics and Peace, Pakistan has been ranked second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan emerging as the fastest-growing terrorist organization in the country, responsible for 52 percent of the deaths in Pakistan in 2024.
As many as 517 attacks were reported in the country in 2023, which increased to 1099 in 2024.
Last year, the TTP carried out 482 attacks, killing 558 people, a 91% increase compared to 2023.
According to the report, after the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, terrorists have found safe havens across the border, which has led to a rapid increase in attacks in Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Terror attacks by Baloch militant groups increased from 116 to 504, while the death toll in these attacks also increased fourfold to 388.
The report stated that the government of Pakistan has launched Operation Resolute Stabilization against terrorism, which aims to stop the activities of extremists and strengthen security.
