5G Spectrum Auction Completes, Pilot Services to Begin Soon: Shaza
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced on Thursday that Pakistan has successfully completed the auction of 5G spectrum, marking a major step toward advancing the country’s digital connectivity and technological development.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Hafeezur Rehman and representatives of telecom companies, the minister said the transparent auction of 480 megahertz of spectrum was expected to generate 510 million dollars in revenue.
She said the successful completion of the auction represents an important milestone for the country’s digital future and will play a key role in transforming Pakistan into a modern digital economy.
Ms Shaza stated that 5G pilot projects will be launched in major cities in the coming weeks, adding that full-scale 5G services are likely to be available in the federal capital and all provincial capitals within six to eight months.
The minister also highlighted that the auction process was carefully designed to ensure transparency and to protect the rights and interests of both the telecom industry and consumers.
