KARACHI: Due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, flight operations have been severely disrupted, leading to the cancellation of 88 flights from Pakistan on Sunday.
According to aviation sources, several countries in the region have closed or restricted their airspace because of the conflict, affecting international flight schedules.
From Karachi, 27 flights to Middle Eastern destinations, including Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Manama, and Dammam, were cancelled.
Flight cancellations were also reported from other cities. A total of 16 flights were cancelled from Lahore, 22 from Islamabad, 10 from Peshawar, seven from Multan, four from Faisalabad, and two from Sialkot.
Despite the disruption, 57 flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah were still scheduled to operate during the day.
In a related incident, a flight from Multan to Sharjah (Flight G9559) had to return to Multan Airport after reports of an explosion at Dubai Airport. The aircraft later departed again after the situation normalized.
The war in the Middle East continues to affect aviation routes and international travel across the region.
