MANILA: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced a comprehensive financial aid package to assist its developing member countries facing economic and fiscal challenges due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The initiative aims to provide immediate support while ensuring long-term economic stability in the affected nations.
According to an official statement from ADB, the package will deliver fast, flexible, and effective financial assistance to help member countries manage urgent pressures.
The support will include rapid budgetary aid, as well as financing for trade and supply chain operations, particularly to ensure the uninterrupted import of essential commodities such as oil.
ADB President Masato Kanda emphasized that the initiative reflects the bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting Asia-Pacific economies during periods of global uncertainty.
The bank has sufficient resources to safeguard ongoing and planned projects and can also increase emergency funding by utilizing its counter-cyclical lending buffer if necessary.
