According to sources, police personnel being called in from other cities will be accommodated at 48 educational institutions in Rawalpindi and surrounding areas. A decision regarding the announcement of holidays at the educational institutions being used to accommodate the additional force will be taken on Monday.
The list of educational institutions under consideration includes five institutions in Gujar Khan, three in Kallar Syedan, 10 in Taxila, 21 in Rawalpindi city and six educational institutions located in areas adjoining the Chakri Interchange.
The additional police force has been requisitioned from various districts of Punjab and is expected to arrive in Rawalpindi on Monday evening. In the first phase, approximately 15,000 police personnel will be deployed in and around the city.
The additional deployment is part of the security preparations being made by the authorities in anticipation of political protests and possible gatherings. The personnel will be available to assist local police in maintaining law and order and responding to any emergency or untoward situation.
Officials are also making arrangements for the accommodation of the visiting personnel so that the additional force can remain available for security duties during the protest period.
Authorities are expected to finalise the arrangements, including the use of educational institutions and any possible holidays, after reviewing the security situation on Monday.
