FRANKFURT: A large number of Afghan nationals protested outside Pakistan’s consulate in Frankfurt, Germany, and stormed the building.
The Afghan protesters took down Pakistan’s national flag and tried to burn it down. It was not immediately known why the Afghans were holding the protest.
Pakistan has repeatedly asked the Taliban regime in Kabul to take action against militants carrying out terror activists in Pakistan from their hideouts in Afghanistan.
Over the unfortunate attack on the consulate in the German city, Pakistan has lodged a protest with the foreign ministry of Germany and asked it to ensure security of Pakistani missions and staff in accordance with the international laws.
Pictures and video footage on social media showed the Afghans inside the consulate building and taking down the national flag of Pakistan. However, the staff in the building remained safe.
Over the incident, the German authorities have assured Pakistan of full cooperation and security for its missions. It has also been learnt that some of the culprits involved in the attack and vandalism have been arrested.
