Afghan soil still being used against Pakistan: minister

Khawaja Muhammad Asif says terrorists involved in attacks on Pakistan are hiding in Afghanistan.

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has once again said that Afghan soil is being used by terror groups against Pakistan.

In an interview with a television channel, the Defence Minister said that terror groups and its leaderships who have been involved in caring out attacks on Pakistan’s security forces and civilians are hiding in Afghanistan.

He said that despite repeated appeals to  Afghan interim government, this open aggression against Pakistan continued without any check.

Pakistan has solid proof and evidence about the involvement of terror groups operating from Afghanistan and targeting Pakistani security forces and civilians. He said that on a number of occasions Pakistan had provided the evidence to the Afghan interim government and asked it to take action and eliminate the hideouts and safe havens of the terror groups in its territory.

A few days go, Pakistani security forces in an operation conducted in North Waziristan killed at least eight terrorists.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, most of the dead terrorists belonged to Afghanistan as Afghanistan’s national ID cards were recovered from their buddies.

One of the dead terrorists also had an arms license issued by the interim government of Afghanistan, according to media reports.

It may be mentioned that over 80,000 security forces personnel and civilians have been killed in terror attacks in Pakistan for the last about two decades, according to government data.
