Afridi Reviews Infrastructure Projects, Orders Quick Road Development

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi chaired an important meeting of the Communication and Works Department at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar, where a detailed review was conducted of ongoing and proposed road and infrastructure development projects across the province.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to prepare a dedicated road infrastructure scheme for inclusion in the upcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP), focusing on improving connectivity in the merged tribal districts.

He said that improved interconnectivity would facilitate ease of movement, accelerate socio-economic development, and promote regional integration in these areas.

The Chief Minister further instructed authorities to expedite work on provincial motorway and expressway projects, adding that steps are already underway for the establishment of an integrated road network across the province.

He emphasized that strong infrastructure forms the foundation of sustainable economic growth and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing modern, high-quality transport facilities to the public.

Sohail Afridi also directed that all newly constructed roads must include proper lane markings and cat’s eyes to ensure road safety compliance and improve traffic management.

Stressing timely delivery of projects, he instructed that all ongoing development schemes be completed strictly within the stipulated timelines, warning that delays would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He said timely completion of development projects is essential for delivering tangible public relief and effective service delivery.

The Chief Minister further underscored that no compromise would be made on merit or quality standards in public sector development projects.

The meeting was also briefed on the overall development portfolio of the Communication and Works Department, including progress on ongoing schemes, fund releases, and expenditure status.

Senior officials, including the Secretary Communication and Works and heads of attached departments, attended the meeting.
