Afridi takes oath as 30th chief justice of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Justice Yahya Afridi took oath as the 30th chief justice of Pakistan on Saturday.

President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to the new chief justice of Pakistan at a ceremony held at President House.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Governor Punjab Salim Haider, Governor KP Faisal Karim Kundi, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Khyber Pakthunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, services chiefs and ministers snd others.

A parliamentary committee earlier selected Justice Yahya Afridi from among a list of three senior most judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The committee was formed after an amendment to the constitution three days before.
