GAZA: The health ministry in Gaza on Friday evening said in the fresh Israeli attacks at least 178 Palestinians were 589 others injured.
Moreover, the Gaza government said three journalists were also killed in Israeli raids as fierce fighting resumed after a week-long truce.
The three media persons were identified as cameraman Muntassir al-Sawwaf, who worked for Turkey’s Anadolu state news agency, his brother Marwan, who worked as a soundman, and cameraman Abdullah Darwish.
Their deaths brought to 73 the number of journalists killed since the Israeli offensive began on October 7. The Turkish agency confirmed the death of Sawwaf and two others whom it did not name in southern Gaza.
“We are concerned about the lives of our colleagues, who fulfil their duties with great devotion under very difficult conditions,” Anadolu general director Serdar Karagoz said.
Israel and Gaza had agreed on a four-day truce that was extended twice for release of Palestinians and hostages held by Hamas. The extended truce expired on Friday morning as there was no further extension, leading to so many deaths in a single day.
