Agonies of residents increase as Parachinar road still closed

PESHAWAR: It has been 153 days since the Tal Parachinar main highway in Kurram district of Khyber Pakthunkhwa was closed, but the government has not yet opened the highway to resolve the agonies of the public.

People were already worried about the shortage of food, petrol and medicines, and the difficulties of those fasting in Ramazan have increased. With no resolution to the problems and no action taken by the government, the citizens of Parachinar have started protesting in different places.

The affected residents say that they were already worried about not getting food and now they fasting and doing Iftar only with water.

Power outages during the peak hours in Parachinar, the headquarters of Kurram district, and the suburbs have also added to the woes of the people.

The blockades of roads have been caused after clashes between sectarian groups in the area that left hundreds of people dead.
