ISLAMABAD: Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister is scheduled to take the oath of office on February 17, 2026, in a formal swearing-in ceremony expected to draw the participation of several regional and international dignitaries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has received an official invitation to attend the ceremony, underscoring the diplomatic importance of the occasion and the evolving relationship between the two South Asian nations.

However, due to his prior commitments and ongoing official visit to Austria, Prime Minister Sharif will be unable to participate in the event in person.

In his stead, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal will travel to Bangladesh to formally represent Pakistan at the swearing-in ceremony.

His participation is expected to convey Pakistan’s goodwill and commitment to maintaining constructive diplomatic engagement with Bangladesh.
