MUZAFFARABAD: Senior lawyers in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have voiced opposition to the alleged violent activities attributed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), calling for adherence to the rule of law.
According to a statement issued by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court Bar Association, its president Raja Aftab Ahmed said individuals involved in violence, attacks on state institutions, and damage to public property must surrender and face legal proceedings.
He emphasized that elements challenging the writ of the state were endangering human lives and creating instability in the region. He added that those involved in armed activities and unrest would be held accountable under the law.
The bar association also stated it would provide legal assistance to individuals only if they voluntarily submit themselves before the courts, underscoring the importance of due process.
Legal experts said the statement reflects a broader rejection of violent protests by the legal community, with some describing such actions as serious crimes that could amount to rebellion against the state.
