MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has announced the launch of 5G internet services in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
He said that aligning the state with the modern digital era is the government’s top priority.
In a video message, the Prime Minister said that the nationwide auction of the 5G spectrum is expected to take place on March 10. Following this, a separate auction process for 5G spectrum in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will be initiated, marking a significant milestone for the region.
He emphasized that high-speed 5G internet will significantly boost education, e-health, e-governance, and the digital economy. The new technology is also expected to create employment opportunities for youth, promote online businesses, and enhance the efficiency and transparency of public services.
The Prime Minister noted that in the past, 4G services were introduced in Azad Kashmir six years after their launch in Pakistan. However, he said that the current government is making efforts to ensure that this time Azad Kashmir receives 5G services simultaneously with the rest of the country.
Secretary Information and Information Technology Rashid Hanif stated that the launch of 5G services will mark the beginning of a new digital era in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and further accelerate the region’s development and prosperity.
