LAHORE: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecast a fourth spell of monsoon rains across most districts of Punjab from July 20 to July 25.
According to PDMA officials, rain and strong winds are expected in several areas including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali.
The PDMA has alerted all district administrations to remain prepared. Emergency response teams have been instructed to stay on standby. Rescue 1122 and other departments are ready to assist in case of flooding or other weather-related incidents.
The PDMA Director General, Irfan Ali Kathia, warned that there is a risk of rising water levels in rivers and streams. A low-level flood has been observed in the Indus River at Tarbela and Kalabagh, while a moderate flood is reported at Chashma.
So far this monsoon season, 123 people have died and 462 have been injured in various rain-related accidents in Punjab.
Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, stay away from rivers and low-lying areas, and follow safety instructions issued by local authorities.
