KARACHI: The Jinnah International Airport in Karachi has taken major steps to enhance passenger convenience by fully opening all 20 departure immigration counters.
Travelers can now expect faster processing times, even during peak hours.
Deputy Director of Immigration Karachi, Shehzad Akbar said that with the counters fully staffed, a passenger can complete immigration in about one minute.
He added that pre-departure counters are also operational, allowing passengers to get clearance a few days ahead of their flight. He stressed that portraying Karachi Airport as inconvenient for travelers is misleading.
Shehzad Akbar noted that the airport is evolving into a modern facility, with e-gates planned for installation and a dedicated app for departing passengers in the works. Security measures now limit friends and relatives to areas outside the departure zone.
During busy periods, some domestic lounge counters are being temporarily allocated to the international lounge to provide airlines with more space for boarding.
