American doctors urge ceasefire, end to arms supply to Israel

Letter says children in Gaza have been targeted deliberately; children have been shot in the head and chest.

WASHINGTON: American doctors and nurses voluntarily working in the war-ravaged hospitals of Gaza have written a letter to the White House urging for an immediate ceasefire and stoppage to arms supply to Israel.

According to the media reports, 45 American doctors and nurses are providing humanitarian assistance to patients in the Gaza strip.

In their letter to the US President Joe Biden, the medical and paramedical staffers said that after seeing the destruction and mayhem in Gaza, it was not possible for them to remain silent.

They said that children were deliberately shot and injured by Israeli forces. The doctors and nurses said that each one of them had treated children who had been shot in the head and chest.

“We wish you could see the cries and appeals of mothers calling upon us to save their injured children,” said the letter.

The letter also called for banning the supply of arms and ammunition to Israel and all Palestinian groups. Moreover, till a full ceasefire, Israel should not be provided any military, financial or diplomatic support.
