ISLAMABAD: Another leader of the embattled PTI party of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan has announced to quit party as well as politics.
Sadaqat Abbasi from Murree, who was president of the PTI North Punjab chapter, had disappeared and reached home after about a month a few days ago. His interview recorded with DawnNews TV channel was aired on Monday night.
In the interview, Abbasi said his decision to quit the party and politics was not due to pressure from any quarters. He said different FIRs had been registered against him and he was not in a position to face so many cases in court.
He blamed party chief Imran Khan for the May 9th arson attacks on military installations following his brief arrest by NAB in Islamabad the same day.
Abbasi said the May 9th incidents were a result of brain washing by Imran Khan. He said a meeting of the party was held on May 7th in which it was decided that in case of Imran’s arrest there should be a strong reaction to put pressure on the establishment.
He claimed that the meeting was held on the advice of Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan.
He also saud that Imran wanted heavy pressure on the establishment that could have the way for a later compromise. Abbasi also said Imran never wanted to accept Gen Asim Munir as the chief of army staff.
It may be mentioned here that about a week ago, another PTI leader Usman Dar in a TV interview in Lahore also announced to quit politics after blaming Imran Khan for the May 9 violence.
Dar had also disappeared and emerged after a couple of weeks to announce his decision to leave the party as well as politics.
