ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for 50 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in connection with the November 26, 2022, protest case.
The warrants were issued by ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain on the request of Karachi Company Police Station, where two related FIRs are registered.
Among those named in the arrest warrants are former President Arif Alvi, Umar Amin Gandapur, former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, Atif Khan, Abdul Qayyum Niazi, Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, and lawyer Salman Akram Raja.
Other PTI leaders who are also subject to arrest warrants include Rauf Hassan, Murad Saeed, Ahmed Niazi, advocate Shoaib Shaheen, Azam Swati, Umar Ayub, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Aleema Khan, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Shandana Gulzar, and Sher Afzal Marwat.
The court issued these warrants following a request from Islamabad police, who cited non-compliance and absconding from court proceedings related to the protest and alleged unlawful activities.
