SRINAGAR: The international community should seriously work for the resolution of the Kashmir and Palestine issues to avert a catastrophe in the Middle East and South Asia.
This was stated by All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a press statement today. It criticized the failure of the United Nations to resolve the two main disputes already in its agenda for decades. The United Nations and the world powers have either forgotten the Kashmir dispute or they are deliberately ignoring it even though it is one of the oldest unresolved disputes on the UN agenda.
The statement said India by implementing black laws in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir was killing, arresting and terrorizing unarmed Kashmiris people, including women and children.
The spokesperson pointed out that thousands of Kashmiri youth had been picked up by the Indian forces after being labeled as militants on mere suspicion. He said India had failed to suppress the Kashmiris’ freedom sentiment despite using all cheap tactics.
Under the resolutions, a plebiscite has to be carried out in Kashmir to give the right of self-determination to the people. However, India has not only refused to cooperate in the implementation of the resolutions but has also shamelessly been involved in killing and displacing thousands of people in the occupied territory to turn the Kashmiris into a minority in their own land.
