RAHIMYAR KHAN: Five persons, including a girl, lost their lives when armed men opened indiscriminate firing on them in Machkala village located in the district of Rahimyar Khan.
Police said that the armed men were hiding in a sugarcane farm from where they opened fire when four farmers reached there to work in the field.
A girl standing on the rooftop of her house located nearby was also hit by the bullets and died.
Police reached the area abd cordoned off the place and in an exchange of fire shot dead two of the armed men. The police said that the armed men were robbers.
The two deceased were identified by police as Umar Shar and Komo. A search has been launched to trace and arrest the other criminals.
A large number of police and other law enforcement agencies personnel with armed vehicles have reached the area.
