ISLAMABAD: Non-bailable warrants for the arrest of Malik Riaz, his son Ali Riaz, former prime minister Imran Khan’s special assistants Zulfi Bukhari and Shehzad Akbar and others were on Monday issued by an accountability court in Islamabad.
The arrest warrants were sent out by judge Muhammad Bashir in connection with a reference filed by National Accountability Bureau in the accountability court in the 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust corruption case last week.
NAB Rawalpindi has also nominated Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi, her friend Farah Gogi and Barrister Zia Mustafa in the corruption case. The next hearing of teh case will be held in Asiala jail on Dec 6.
NAB formally has arrested Imran Khan in Adiala jail and the federal government has allowed his trial inside the jail along with the cipher case.
NAB has alleged that PTI government struck a deal with property tycoon Riaz that caused a loss of $239m to the national exchequer. Imran and Bushra Bibi allegedly received billions of rupees and a large swath of land from Bahria Town after legalising Rs50 billion that was returned by the UK during the previous PTI government.
