Arshad Hussain Shah to become caretaker chief minister of KP

PESHAWAR: The name of retired judge Arshad Hussain Shah has been agreed upon for caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakthunkhwa at a discussion held in Governor House here today.

According to media reports, former chief minister Mahmood Khan and opposition leader in the previous KP assembly Akram Khan Durrani met to discuss the name of the caretaker chief minister following the sudden death of Muhammad Azam Khan on Saturday.

According to the reports, the former chief minister and opposition leader agreed on appointing retired chief judge of Gilgit-Baltistan Supreme Appellate Court Arshad Hussain Shah for the post.

Shah belongs to Abbottabad and was also a member of the caretaker cabinet of Azam Khan.

His name was proposed by Mr Durrani. After finalization, the name has been sent to KP Governor Ghulam Ali for approval.

It may be mentioned here that 89-year-old Azam Khan passed away at a hospital in Peshawar where he was admitted on Friday night with the complaint of a severe stomach infection.
