ATC accepts bail pleas of Imran in three cases

Court also grants bail to PTI vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi in two cases.

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Monday granted bail to former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan in three terrorism cases registered against him in the federal capital.

ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain also granted bail to PTI vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi in two other cases.

Prosecutor Raja Naveed and PTI’s counsel Sardar Masroof appeared in the court.

The judge said bail is being granted to the PTI leaders in these cases. However, the prosecutor said that the PTI leaders had incited party activists and geld violent protests, adding the accused were being given undue favor.

The judge asked him if the two PTI leaders were present when the protests were held. In reply, the prosecutor said they were not present at the sites.

The judge remarked that as all other accused persons in the cases had been granted bail, the applications of the PTI chairman and vice chairman were also accepted.

It may be mentioned here that the two PTI leaders are currently in Adiala jail in the cipher case and are also undergoing trials in a number of other cases registered against them.

The court ordered the two PTI leaders to submit surety bond of Rs30,000 each.
