ATC rejects bail plea of poet Ahmed Farhad

MUZAFFARABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Muzaffarabad today rejected the bail application of poet Ahmad Farhad Shah.

The police produced the poet before the court which took up the bail application. However, the judge rejected the plea.

Ahmad Farhad went missing from Islamabad last month after which his approached the Islamabad High Court seeking his recovery.

When the court took up the natter, the federal government disclosed that the poet had been arrested and was in custody of Dhirkot police in Muzaffarabad. 

Earlier, the high court had given the government the deadline of May 24 to recover the poet. On its failure, the court summoned the sector commanders of ISI and MI.

The court was informed by the attorney general that a case was registered at the Dhirkot police station in Muzaffarabad  against the poet.

The FIR was registered under section 186 of Pakistan Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions. A section of the terrorism Act was also included in the case.
