RAWALPINDI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has dismissed a plea filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan seeking a halt to the trial in the May 9 GHQ attack case. The court adjourned further proceedings until September 30.

Imran Khan’s legal team had submitted a request asking the court to suspend the trial until the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court delivers its verdict on the legality of conducting the trial via video link.

During the hearing, the court also issued notices to the prosecution regarding a separate application seeking the recall of eight witnesses for cross-examination.

In Friday’s proceedings, statements of three prosecution witnesses were recorded. The witnesses included DSP Akbar Abbas, Inspector Ismat Kamal, and Inspector Tehzeeb-ul-Hassan.

Rejecting the defense’s request to pause proceedings, the court confirmed that the trial would continue and set the next hearing for September 30.
