LAHORE: Thousands of people gathered outside Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore to welcome Arshad Nadeem on his return with gold medal from the Paris Olympics Gams 2024.
The javelin thrower from Mian Channu in Punjab won the gold for Pakistan in the Olympics after 40 long years. Pakistan’s golden boy has a history of sheer hard work and luck otherwise he had no support at all from the government.
Government and private organizations are now wasting no time to praise and award after he did what no one else including the national teams of cricket, hockey and football had done for Pakistan in over four decades. They have announced millions of cash and other awards while the president of Pakistan has decided to confer Hilal-e-Imtiaz on the athlete.
As the plane carrying Nadeem landed at the airport at 1:25am on Sunday. The plane was presented a water cannon salute. Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Youth Program Rana Mashood, Khowaja Saad Rafiq along with Nadeem’s family members and relatives were also at the airport.
