ZHOB: Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by India-backed militants from the Afghan border, killing 33 terrorists in the process, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists referred to as Khawarij attempted to enter Pakistan from the Afghan side during the night between August 7 and 8. However, timely action by security forces in the Sambaza area of Zhob foiled their plans.

The ISPR stated that the movement of the terrorists was detected in advance, and a swift operation was carried out, resulting in the elimination of all infiltrators.

A large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the slain terrorists.

The operation comes amid growing concerns about cross-border militancy, particularly from elements operating within Afghanistan. Pakistani authorities have repeatedly urged the interim Afghan government to take firm action against terrorist groups using Afghan soil to launch attacks against Pakistan.

This is one of the most significant counter-infiltration operations in recent months and highlights the continuing threat posed by externally backed militant groups. Security officials reiterated their resolve to take all necessary measures to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
