KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court has approved bail for former PTI Sindh Assembly member Saeed Afridi and 18 other accused individuals in a case related to riots during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) “Peace March” in Banaras, Karachi.

The court directed each of the accused to submit surety bonds worth Rs. 30,000.

During the hearing, defense counsel Shujaat Ali Khan Advocate argued that the PTI had organized a peaceful march, but police resorted to baton charges against the participants.

He stated that nothing was recovered from the arrested workers except peace flags, yet they were booked under anti-terrorism provisions without any recovery.

The state prosecutor contended that police officials were injured during the attack by the accused and that a police mobile van was also damaged.
