Balochistan Bans Corporal Punishment in All Schools
QUETTA: The Education Department of Balochistan has imposed a complete ban on corporal punishment in all public and private schools across the province, warning of strict disciplinary and legal action against violators.
According to an official notification, teachers and educational institutions found subjecting students to physical punishment will face departmental as well as legal proceedings.
The department stated that violence or corporal punishment against students will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The notification said the decision follows reports of recent incidents of corporal punishment in some educational institutions, describing such practices as a violation of children’s fundamental rights and inconsistent with a safe learning environment.
School administrations have been directed to ensure that students are provided with a secure, respectful, and positive educational atmosphere.
The department said the move is aimed at protecting students’ rights, safeguarding their physical and mental well-being, and promoting constructive and child-friendly disciplinary practices in schools.
