SHARJAH: Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 4 wickets in the first T20 International of the series, successfully chasing a target of 152 runs in the 19th over.
For Bangladesh, Parvez Hossain Emon played a brilliant knock of 54 runs, while Tanzid Hasan contributed 51 runs. Nurul Hasan scored 23 and Rishad Hossain remained unbeaten on 14 runs. Captain Jaker Ali scored 6 runs, while Shamim Hossain, Saif Hassan, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib were dismissed without scoring.
Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets. Noor Ahmad and Fareed Ahmad picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Afghanistan scored 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz top-scored with 40 runs, while Mohammad Nabi added 38. Azmatullah Omarzai made 18, Ibrahim Zadran 15, Sediqullah Atal 10, Noor Ahmad 6, Rashid Khan 4, Mohammad Ishaq 1, and Darwish Rasooli was dismissed for 0. Sharafuddin Ashraf remained not out on 17.
For Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain and Tanzim Hasan Sakib took 2 wickets each, while Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Taskin Ahmed claimed one wicket apiece.
With this win, Bangladesh took a 1–0 lead in the T20 series against Afghanistan.
