BANNU: The Bomb Disposal Squad in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district successfully foiled two major terrorist plots through timely operations.
Acting on a tip-off, the Bomb Disposal Squad conducted a raid under the Miran Shah bridge in Bakakhel area and recovered explosives hidden in drums.
District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi confirmed that the drums were connected to command wires.
In another incident in Kakki tehsil, a bomb was discovered at the main gate of a police station. The device had been set on fire in an attempt to trigger an explosion, but fortunately, the fire was extinguished before reaching the explosives.
The DPO stated that the bomb recovered from the police station gate contained 10 kilograms of explosives and had ball bearings attached to increase its destructive potential.
Overall, a total of 150 kilograms of explosive material was recovered from both incidents. The DPO emphasized that these attacks could have caused large-scale destruction, which was successfully averted.
DPO Afridi praised the professional skills of the Bomb Disposal Squad, noting that their timely intervention saved Bannu from a major catastrophe.
