BAP leaders ready to jump on Nawaz Sharif’s bandwagon

Ex-PM says he always worked for Balochistan’s progress and will take its leaders on board in future as well.

QUETTA: As part of his political drive before the forthcoming general elections expected on February 8, 2024, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif arrived in Quetta on a two-day visit and held a meeting with top leaders of the province.

PML-N leaders Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and others are also accompanying the supreme leader of the party. 

Addressing the leaders of different political parties at a meeting, Nawaz said Balochistan’s progress and development had always been his priority. He said in the past too, he had taken the Balochistan leaders on board and would also take them along in the near future. He also spoke about the development projects launched in Balochistan when he was the prime minister and said these projects were shelved after his departure.

According to a newspaper report, the three-time prime minister is expected to reach out to the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) to form an electoral alliance ahead of the February polls.

Today’s meeting was attended among others by BAP President Khalid Magsi, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Jan Jamali, Sardar Sadiq Bhootani; National Party’s Abdul Malik Baloch, Jan Buledi and Kabir Muhamamd while PkMAP’s Nawab Ayaz Jogizai, Dr Hamid Achakzai and Liaquat Agha.

About 30 leaders of different political parties on the occasion also announced to join the PML-N, and praised Mr Sharif for his struggle for democracy and supremacy of the constitution.
