DHAKA: After their successful nut violent protests that ended the escape from Bangladesh of its prime minister Hasina Wajid, students in Dhaka have once again started holding rallies demanding the resignation of the president as well.
The students in a large number gathered outside the residence of President Shahab Uddin and chanted slogans against him, asking him to quit.
The students started the protest after the president in a recent interview said that he had no resignation letter from former prime minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid. However, earlier on August 5 he had announced that Hasina Wajid had submitted him her resignation before fleeing to India.
A government adviser said that the president had issued conflicting statements about the resignation of Hasina Wajid. The former prime minister has been nominated in over 200 cases along with other leaders of her party in connection with the killings of protesters in clashes with police during the protests of students that culminated in her fleeing to India
