Benazir’s 16th death anniversary being observed today

Main gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Larkana, public holiday in Sindh.

KARACHI: The 16th death anniversary of POP chairperson and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is being observed today.

She was killed after attending a public gathering in Liaquat Bagh Raealpindi on December 27, 2007.

Leaders and workers in a large number from different parts of the country have reachef Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in Larkana, where Benazir is buried, to pay her tributes.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and other leaders will address the gathering of people there.

Sindh government has announced a public holiday in the province today.

In his message on 16th martyrdom anniversary of his mother, Bilawal said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was the first democratically elected woman prime minister of the Islamic world.

“Daughter of the East” stands not only as a historical figure but as a living movement and a radiant torch.”

Meanwhile, PPP workers also gathered at the memoriam of Benazir outside Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi to pay tribute to her and offer Fateha.

Party workers and supporters also have arranged events in different cities to offer Quran Khwani for Benazir.
