Blast in Quetta Claims four Lives, 17 Injured During Political Gathering

QUETTA: A powerful explosion outside the Sariab Shahwani Stadium in Quetta on Tuesday claimed the lives of four people and left 17 others seriously injured, according to police officials.

The blast occurred during a public gathering of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M). At the time of the explosion, several prominent political leaders were present, including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the head of the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, and other senior party figures.

According to initial reports, a vehicle belonging to National Party leader Mir Kabir Ahmed Muhammad Shahi was completely destroyed in the blast. Fortunately, his guards escaped unharmed. A second bulletproof vehicle sustained damage, with its windows shattered, though Mir Kabir remained safe. However, one of his gunmen was reportedly injured.

Police and rescue teams quickly responded to the scene. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals, where emergency has been declared to handle the influx of casualties.

Authorities have begun an investigation into the nature of the blast and have cordoned off the area for forensic examination.
