British court rejects US request to extradite Julian Assange

LONDON: A British court has ruled on a petition filed by the United States seeking the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
A court in London’s Old Bailey has ruled in favor of Julian Assange’s extradition case, rejecting a petition filed by the United States.
Julian Assange is accused of leaking secret US military documents 10 years ago. The WikiLeaks founder was charged with 18 counts of aggravated burglary, including hacking into computers and leaking defense information. Julian Assange is being held in the high-security HMP Belmarsh prison.
Julian Assange was arrested at the police station on December 7, 2010. He spent seven years as a political asylum seeker at the Ecuadorian embassy in London. The United States has requested a British court to extradite Julian Assange.
